SBNet - Conference 2002
Sixth Annual Conference of the Swedish Structural Biology Network
Dates: 31 May - 3 June, 2002
Thanks to all participants and speakers for helping to make the
sixth Tällberg meeting a success again. Of course, if you
have suggestions to make next year's meeting even better,
them to SBNet. By the way - next year's meeting will be
from 13-16 June 2003, so reserve those dates now !!!
For the record
- During the conference,
was introduced as the new SBNet coordinator.
of the meeting (some with witty captions) !!! If you wish, you can
the entire set of ~240 pictures. Note - the tar file is more than
14 MB ! Or, why not view all the pictures of the conference as a
show (with no captions, though) ?
- The Biovitrum Poster Award went to
(KTH) for his poster (number 19) entitled "Structure and biophysical
characterization of the affibody ZSPA-1 in complex with the Z-domain".
- The AstraZeneca Structural Chemistry Laboratory Award for the best
oral presentation by a young person went to
of Uppsala University ("The structure of the membrane protein
- Just like last year, the traditional football match
between X-ray/EM and NMR/Modelling ended in a 6-1
victory for the X-ray/EM team.
Gerard's annual NMR-team-humiliation overheads are available as JPEG images:

The standings after six matches:
- X-RAY/EM 6 6 0 0 18 28-7
- NMR/MODELLING 6 0 0 6 0 7-28
- Although there was no official ceremony this year, the MS Ball
Awards were given (in a private ceremony) to:
- Johan Weigelt (of the sucker team) in the category:
"Least harm for his own team caused by an actively participating
NMR-player". Motivation: Johan W played excellently for 30
seconds prior to his injury that forced him to leave the field
(according to our sources he suffers from 'Pungbråck')
- Johan Schultz (of the sucker team) in the category:
"Best throw-in (as opposed to best throw up)". Motivation: Johan
S combined skill, innovative thinking and experience when missing
the 8000 m2 field. The jury for the MSBA was stunned and impressed.
- the jersey comfort-price (tröjtröstpris) went to Gärhart Kläjvegt
for his goalie skills. The Jury has never before seen handball
goal keeping in a soccer game.
